X is for e(X)ample

X is for (e)Xample
by Wendy Elizabeth Middleton

I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.
John 13:15

Jesus lived...Jesus was...Jesus did...Jesus never...Jesus offered...
Jesus is a living example of how we should live. Jesus is God, who walked away from the glory of heaven to live in the dirt with us so that we may live in heaven with Him.

Here is a short list of the qualities that Jesus set for us to follow.

Jesus lived…

A Life of Obedience – Philippians 2:8
A Life of Service – Philippians 2:7
A Life of Prayer – Matthew 14:23
Jesus was…

A Teacher – Luke 11:1
A Preacher – Matthew 4:17
A Spellbinding Storyteller – Matthew chapter 5

Jesus did…

He Healed – Matthew 14:14
He Helped – Mark 9:24
He Offered Hope – Romans 8:24

Jesus never…

He never lied – 1 Peter 2:22
He didn’t flinch – 1 Peter 2:23
He didn’t run – Matthew 26:53-55

Jesus offered…

Forgiveness – Matthew 26:28
Love – John 13:1
Life – John 3:16

You will have to read the entire Bible to fully explore all of the examples that Jesus set before us. This is the example we are asked to live up to. It is daunting. We will fail. Nevertheless we must be Holy, as he is Holy (1 Peter 15-16). We must love as He loves. (John 13:34) We must forgive as He forgives. (Matthew 6:12) We must serve as He serves. (Philippians 2:5-8)

A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher. Luke 6:40

We must imitate his means, through the power of the Holy Spirit, and his methods, doing all in love. We must practice until we prefect the love that God has shown us. Although we will never be perfect we must practice what He taught us to the very end of our lives and then claim the crown of life everlasting.

Now start your own list and keep it in your prayer journal.
The Holy Spirit is right here, ready to help and offer support and encouragement. Talk over the steps that you should take to incorporate these qualities in your own life. Talk to God and He will teach you in the way you should go.(Micah 4:2)

Simple – Ain’t – Easy
But it is worth the effort
