V is for Victory

V is for Victory
By Wendy Elizabeth Middleton

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 1 John 5:5

How to claim victory in the middle of the lion’s den
It looks like the devil is winning. Evil is everywhere, churches are shutting down, anxiety is our bedfellow, and we are locked in our homes in fear of the day.

But look again

Fellowship has sprung up all over the Internet, and people who haven’t been to church in years are listening. This was not the devil’s plan. His plan was to confuse us and shake our faith. But God is in control and He has taken the devil’s plans and turned them upside down.
A bruised reed he will not break and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory. Matthew 12:20

We are bruised but not broken. We were a smoldering wick but now we have burst into flame and are on fire for the word.

Peace in a troubled world
Nothing catches God by surprise. He is the author of the future. He has issued warnings and offered comfort. In this world we will have trouble for the devil is active in this world but take heart! God can see what the devil is doing and is with us in the midst of our grief.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Clothed with immortality
When we don the imperishable armor of God we are clothed with immortality. This body may perish. We will not.

When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting. The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:54-57

Death is not the end of us
God promised to ransom us and He fulfilled that promise on the cross.

I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction? Hosea 13:14

Not safe – saved
In this world we will have trouble. In this world we are not safe. But we have overcome this world because we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

It is finished! We have won! HE IS ALIVE! And we are saved!

Simple – Ain’t – Easy
But hallelujah the hardest part has already been done for us.
Wendy
