Life in a Know God World

Life in a Know God World
By Wendy Middleton

Living in a Know
God world is very simple – Do what God tells you to do – but that doing – ain’t easy.

Let’s face it, we live in a NO God world, a world that is hostile to Christ, his followers and the word of God. We live in a world where prayer is frowned upon and belief is ridiculed. We live in a world where everybody knows that we descended from apes and science has proven that the world is far older than the Bible would suggest.

We live in a world that constantly denies God access to every aspect of life. School, work, the courts, government offices, any public gathering – all are off limits to the word of God. We, as Christians, are entitled to our silly opinions, but are not allowed to express those opinions in way, shape, form or fashion.

Faith in God is a private matter, not to be mentioned in public.

This is nothing new; Christians have been ridiculed from the beginning. They have been  stoned, thrown to the lions, and beheaded. There are places in this world, today, where being a Christian can get you killed.

Here in America it isn’t the sword thrust that cuts us down, but rather the thousands of tiny pin pricks that causes our faith to bleed out. It is the slow simmering hostility, the ridicule and the erosion of our rights.

No prayer in school. No prayer in court. No prayer in public. As if prayer were something to be ashamed of.

Is it even possible to live a Know God life anymore?

Yes it is. It is just as possible and just as dangerous for us today, as it was for the early church.

Living in a Know God world is very simple – do what God tells you to do – but that doing ain’t easy.

1. You have to know your ABC’s. A - Accept Christ as your personal savior. He died rather than live without out you. B - Believe that He is alive and well and looking out for your best interests. And C - Confess that Jesus is lord. (This is not the same as confessing your sins; this is saying OUT LOUD that Jesus is Lord.)

2. You have to listen to God. The Bible was written with you in mind. It is a love letter, an instruction manual, and help in troubled minds. Christ is the completion of the law. Through Him ALL men are brought back into a right relationship with God.

3. You have to talk to God. Prayer isn’t all about bowing your head and closing your eyes. It is about pouring out your frustrations on the one who can comfort and help you in any situation.

4. You have to get that chip off of your shoulder. One of the instructions that we are given is to love our enemies. We are to do good to those who hate us, bless those who curse us, pray for those who hurt us. This is one of those big IT AIN'T EASY parts. God isn’t asking us to have the warm fuzzies for the guy beating us up. But that guy was hand crafted by the same Creator who made you and that Creator wants him in heaven whether we like him or not. As a Christian, it is what God wants that counts, not how we feel. Turning the other cheek takes a lot of guts. It also takes conviction, and dedication to the will of God in place of our own wants and wishes.

Living in a Know God world is simple. It just ain’t easy. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! Jesus has overcome the world.

Simple – Ain’t – Easy
Nothing worthwhile ever is
