F is for Faithfulness

F is for Faithfulness
by Wendy Elizabeth Middleton

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? Luke 16:10-11

Can you be trusted? Do you keep your word? Do you cheat on your taxes? Are you proficient with the little white lies of life? Do you live beyond your means? Do you live on credit, spending money that you do not have? Do you gamble with money that you do not have?
Do you give a tenth of your income in a regular tithe? Do you go to church? Do you attend Sunday school regularly? Do you go to work on Monday and check with your coworkers to get the latest gossip? Do you bad-mouth your boss, and fellow workers behind their backs? Do you say things behind someone’s back that you would never say to their face?

Do you have a happy home? Do your children bask in the warmth of your love? Do you hold a grudge? Does the memory of old arguments color your relationships? Do your kids understand the word no? Do they ever do their chores without an argument?

Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. I tell you the truth; he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time, and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 24:45-51
Man was made in the image of God and entrusted with the earth and everything in it (Genesis 1:26) but the earth still belongs to God. Man is entrusted with the earth. Israel was entrusted with the very words of God (Romans 3:2) and Christians were entrusted with the Gospel. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2

We are in charge of the Master’s household. We are to be found handing out the bread of life when the Master returns.

Are you trustworthy? Can your word be trusted? Will Jesus find you going about his business when he returns?

Simple - Ain't - Easy
But the alternative is worse
